If you are travelling Nepal or if you know about Nepal then you have probably heard about MOMO. Momo is one of the typical Nepali dish and most popular in Nepal among the citizens. Momo is loved not only by Nepalese but also by most of the tourists visiting Nepal and nearby neighbouring countries like India,China,etc. 

Origin

Momo is a type of dumpling known to be originated from Himalayan region of South Asia including Nepal, china and Bhutan. Momo is made up of flour dough and ingredient inside it normally contains vegetables like cheese, cabbage or it contains non veg item like chicken and buff meat which is commonly prepared by steaming it. Diffrent varieties of momos can be found nowdays like fried momo, C momo,etc.

The exact origins of Momo are not known, but it is believed to have originated in Tibetan cuisine. Over time, the dish has spread to other parts of South Asia and beyond, and is now widely popular in many countries. In Nepal, for example, Momo is considered a staple food and is widely available on the street as well as in restaurants.

It is said that Newari people ( the local inhabitants of Nepal) adopt it as their traditional dish and is said to be originated within Kathmadu and was introduced to tibet,China, Korea and Japan by Nepalese princess who married to Tibetan King in 15th Century.
